Press Centre

The Political and Communications Section

The British High Commission has a Political and Communications section responsible for promoting Britain and British policy in Cameroon. It handles day to day relations with the public and the media, and works closely with the British Council and the Department for International Development to ensure a co-ordinated approach to UK public diplomacy across the country.

The Public Diplomacy section is a four-person team, which provides local government, opinion formers and press with key UK policy speeches, statements or news releases. It plans, organises and publicises High Commission’s public events such as exhibitions, visits, trade fairs, conferences, shows and interviews.

In addition to maintaining the website and answering local enquiries about the UK, the Public Diplomacy section co-ordinates all media operations of the UK government in Cameroon, including arranging interviews and press conferences of visiting officials and members of government. It also administers the Sponsored Visits scheme of the mission, which allows decision-makers and opinion-formers from Cameroon to go on organised visits or conferences the UK.
