The British High Commission in Yaounde does not issue passports. However, applications for passports, whether for the first time or as a straightforward renewal are accepted by the Consular Section. Full documentary evidence of the applicant's eligibility for British passport facilities will be required. After preliminary local checks all applications are sent to the British High Commission in Nairobi, Kenya for issue.

In case of an extreme emergency where time does not permit a full passport to be issued, an emergency passport may be issued to enable immediate travel after carrying out local checks. In some cases, where previous passports are not available, more thorough checks with the UK Passport Service have to be completed before such a travel document can be issued.
