How do I apply

All applications and appointment are completed online.

How do I submit my application?

From 28 July 2008, you can only apply online. Here are the steps to apply:

  • Go to www.ukvisas.gov.uk for guidance and a link to the online application site. We strongly recommend that you visit our guidance on Required Documentation before you submit your application.
  • Complete online application. (NB:Please make sure you fill out your names as they appear on your passport i.e.
    GIVEN NAME is Given Names/PRENOMS:
    FAMILY NAME is Nom/Surname:
    OTHER NAMES: Do not fill out AS IT DOES NOT EXIST ON OUR PASSPORT. )
  • We also request that you do not insert the words 'Nee', 'Epse' or 'Epouse' in the fields prompting you to provide your name/s.)
  • Print the form. It has your unique reference number on it.
  • Follow the instructions to book an appointment online and submit your application at the British High Commission, Yaounde.
  • On the appointment date, you will need to submit the following:
    • application form
    • visa fees
    • photos
    • supporting documents (originals + photocopies)
    • passport
    • You will be required to have your biometrics taken.
  • Your application will be sent by secure courier to Accra, Ghana where a decision is made.
    Accra sends your passport with the decision back to Yaounde and you will be called or emailed to collect your passport and documents.
  • Please be aware that, this process will take a minimum of 15 working days for non settlement applications.

Who decides whether I will get a visa?

The British High Commission staff in Ghana will process and decide your visa application.
