Cameroon joined 120 countries world over on Wednesday to celebrate the Global Entrepreneurship Week. To mark the activities of this event that kicks off  in Yaoundé,  the Youth Employment Service (YES Cameroon) alongside other partners will for 3 days train participants on Business ideas and Business Management, fund raising, ICT among others.

According to the president of YES Cameroon, Gilbert Ngwemeh the Global Entrepreneurship Week,“Is an initiative to inspire, engage and motivate youngpeople to embrace innovation, imagination and creativity; to think big, to turn their ideas into reality and to make their mark”.

This year’s theme is to introduce the notion of entrepreneurship behaviour to as many youths as possible who might not have considered it a career path in their life.

Presiding over the project co-sponsored by the British High Commission to Cameroon and the US Embassy, H.E Robert P.Jackson, U.S ambassador to Cameroon, in his opening speech to the youths present said: “Entrepreneurs see challenges as opportunities and they face them with their heads lifted high”.

He called on participants at the workshop to make of Cameroon their promised land as stated in the National Anthem by having a dream, being passionate about the dream and making that dream come true.

The British High Commission and the US Embassy were decorated Global Entrepreneurship Week 2011Ambassadors in Cameroon. It is worth noting that during the 1st edition in 2010, H.E Bharat Joshi, British High Commissioner  was decorated First Global Entrepreneurship Ambassador.

This venture falls within the British High Commission’s policy to boost youth employment and empower them as agents of growth and democracy.
