Act on Copenhagen: British High Commission Climate Change Journalism Awards
The British High Commission invites Cameroonian journalists to enter for its competition for the best journalistic coverage of climate change and stand a chance of winning an all-expenses paid trip to the UK to grasp a better understanding of efforts to fight climate change.
Entries are limited to Cameroonian radio, television and newspaper reports in English or French that cover climate change and the issues at stake at United Nations negotiations on climate change which will take place at Copenhagen from 7 to 18 December 2009.
Newspaper entries: Entrants can summit up to three stories/analytical pieces/features of at most 1200 words each published between 1 September and 24 December 2009. The entries must be accompanied with proof of publication in the form of newspaper clippings.
Radio reports: Entrants can summit up to three stories/analytical/feature pieces not longer than five minutes each broadcast between 1 September and 24 December 2009. The entries must be accompanied with an editor’s certification indicating the dates the reports were broadcast.
Television entries: Entrants can summit up to three stories/analytical/feature pieces not longer than five minutes each broadcast between 1 September and 24 December 2009. The entries must be accompanied with an editor’s certification indicating the dates the reports were broadcast.
Submission of entries: Entries which should be addressed to The Communications Manager, British High Commission, and Yaoundé should be submitted at the guard post of the High Commission latest Thursday 7 January 2010 at 11: 00.
Evaluation: A panel of judges comprising authorities in the fields of journalism and climate change will evaluate the entries. Results will be released by the end of January 2009 and the winning entrant will travel to the UK in March 2010.
